Lonely Days...

I've been thinking a lot over my (boring) Spring Break and i have come to the conclusion that...

I miss having loads of friends, you know like a whole group like i did back in high school... I mean i have my cousin Jen who i'm close with and i do have friends in my classes who i sit with but i don't have anyone to hang out with outside of my classes.. cue the violins
Saying all this has made me wish i did my last year of high school over here just so i could make friends, and have that network.

I hate feeling lonely, i mean the friends (and yes i consider you friends) i talk to the most, apart from Jen, are on blogger and twitter! You guys are awesome and i wish i actually new you guys in person! You make me feel better and happier! So thanks!

I hope i am able to make more friends during my summer classes, otherwise my summer is going to suck!
Thanks for listening to my ranting!

Will do another post about what i'm planning to take

Gosh i am sooo tired! I stayed yo till 2am this morning IM'ing (instant message) my bff Josh.. I know crazy time haha but what can i say? I miss talking to him..

Ahh i have a compare/contrast essay to write for english- im thinking of comparing rugby to football.. i mean rugby is WAY better!! but as they are similar (ball shape and field size) i might be able to come up with something.. i hope!!

So it's Valentines day tomorrow.. i actually got a v/day card! Admittedly it was from my youngest brother- but as its the thought that counts it was soo super sweet! But other than that i have no Valentine (again) this year.. Oh well i kind've think its over rated

Indoor Picnic and Babysitting..

So that family picnic that i mentioned previously, well it was meant to be this weekend after it was postponed last weekend cos of the rain.. I have now heard it is being moved to my grandma's house because it is forecaste to rain yet again this weekend! So i have now renamed it the Indoor family Picnic- lol! Surprisingly i haven't yet been out to my grandparents house! But I've only been here 2 and a half months!!

Gosh that has gone so quick! I can't believe i have been living in America for over 2 months! I got here 2 days before Thanksgiving, because i was adamant that i would get to experience a Thanksgiving holiday.. We don't celebrate that in good ol' NZ.

Yes! Hahaha, i'm babysitting! One of the Cub Scouts mum's has asked me to babysit her 2 boys- their around the same age as my half brothers. Though i'm not sure what the going rate is now haha.. My cousin says $8-10.. Thoughts???

I was soo happy! I finished my Reaction Summary Paragraphs paper for English, 10min ago! It's due tomorrow.. Ahh it was soo tedious.. but at least its dunzo!

Gosh my blog posts are getting longer! So that is a sign to stop writing i guess!!

Recap of my uneventful day

Wow what a beautiful day it was today! It even matched my mood!

Today i had 2 classes and in my computers class I don't even think my instructor knows my first name as he's always calling me "New Zealand".. don't get me wrong i don't mind it was just an observation i came across today on my walk home. English.. i'm not that much of a fan of it! I could live without it if i was able to!! I was scared to go to class (but i went!) because i didn't wanna know what i got on our Peer Evaluation assignment... but i got a 15/20!!! Much better than what i though i was going to get!

I found out that this weekend (if it doesn't rain) we're having a family picnic! Now this includes EVERY member of our family! So that will definatly be a new experience for me! My mum's side never did anything like that.. plus it was only myself, mum, her brother and their parents (my grandparents), as my grandparents and mum's cousins all live in England. Okay well that was a bit of history right there!

RoboVac

Have just been sitting watching the RoboVac do it's job and i have to say it's quite fascinating to watch! I know it's kinda odd but it's pretty neat how it just keeps going and going and going i took some pics to email to my mum (cos i think she could benefit from it!) and when i get time to do that i'll post them up here..

Blog Followers..

Wow.. i was quite surprised when i logged onto my blog this morning that i have 2 followers! I was expecting anyone to actually be interested in my blogging 'cos it aint 'nuffin (saying that reminds me of muffin.. now i want a muffin.. apple to be exact! hmm) special just me saying whatevers running through my head. So anyway thank you Wannabe Journalist and Elena Lee Twist you kinda made my day!

My step dad sent over this book that i really wanted before i left New Zealand, it's called "Kiwi Speak" by Justin Brown and i must say it is a crack up! So many of the sayings are what i use daily
eg "Can't handle the jandal" - Jandal is what we call flip flops or thongs
"She'll be right" - Can be used in response to pracically anything!!
"Yeah... nah" - okay so the first time i used it over here my cousin thought i was actually gonna say yeah, but i guess everyone in NZ knows what it means.. I use it a lot!!

well i guess i had better post this as i have to finish getting ready to go to the firehouse museum, i'm excited.. i'll blog about what it was later and i might add pics..

Pop Tarts

Okay so why am i just finding out how wonderfully Delicious they are?!?
Why aren't they sold in New Zealand?
It's such a crime!!

As i'm stating above i have become addicted to pop tarts! My favourite to munch down (toasted of course) is the brown sugar and Cinnamon it's like they cooked heaven..

ok random rant over and done with

i think i might go and watch me some NCIS and drool over Tony (Michael Weatherly) he is sooo freakin' gorgous!

lazy days

So, i'm still feeling sick which sucks! but luckily i didn't have any classes today so i stayed in bed and while i was lazing it up and continuously blowing my nose and coughing i was able to surf the net, feed my growing addictions for sudokus and Twitter.. though i was a good girl and did some homework- not all of it just some!

Tomorrow i'm going with my step brother and my step mum to the firehouse museum for his cup scouts. I'm secretly looking forward to it! I love old things with history, i really loved this Settlers museum in Dunedin.

Got an email from my step dad today he had sent me some a picture of a beach in Napier, New Zealand and it made me a little homesick if i'm honest. I don't live next to the ocean any more which is something i miss. Plus it's Summer in NZ and Winter here.

Personal Responsibility..

I just read this in my CPD "Strategies for College Success" book and it's super interesting..
"When psychologist Richard Logan studied people who had survived ordeals such as being imprisoned in concentraction camps or lost in the frozen Arctic, he found that all of these victors shared a common belief. They saw themselves as personally responsible for the outcomes and experiences of their lives.
Ironically, responsibility has gotten a bad reputation. Some see it as a heavy burden they have to lug through life. Quite the contrary, personal responsibility is the foundation of success because, without it, our lives are shaped by forces outside of us"
That was an interesting read.. i think i had better keep going..

Obsessing Over..

I've become to obsess over so many different thing lately..
  1. Twitter.. It's fan-bloody-tastic! I don't think anyone actually reads what i say but still it's so much fun! www.twitter.com.sammyclaire
  2. Blogging.. I used to really hate writing in my journal 'cos i made it chore for me, but at the moment i'm loving it!
  3. Translating everything into French.. I can't speak or understand it but hey its fun to do!
  4. Crushed Ice.. Nuff said
  5. Sudoku.. It's great for the brain, i bought a book with 178 puzzles last month and im up to 110
  6. Leighton Meesters blog.. I check it daily http://marissameester.blogspot.com/
  7. Opshop.. www.opshopmusic.com their fan-bloody-tastic
  8. Playing Apple Shooter.. If you miss, watching the guy get hurt is still worth it http://www.officegamespot.com/officegames/appleshooter.htm
  9. Not losing my kiwi accent.. As much as i like Americans i don't wanna sound like one, sorry
  10. Watching re-runs of Charmed.. That pretty much is self-explanatory

The feeling of...

Homesickness..
Doesn't it suck! I mean as much as i love being over here in the states i don't think it's ever going to truely be my home.. The only communication i have to my mummy is email! I miss talking to her so much! She's my best friend and i miss seeing her everyday and i don't know when im gonna go back home.. okay i should stop talking about that 'cos my words are going a bit blurry.

Well, i finished my 2nd week in college today- thank heaven i didn't pick classes for Fridays! I'm not really happy about an assignment i handed in today, i think i might fail.. Don't get me wrong i want to pass! And the most disapointing thing is that i don't have cute boys in my classes!

Though my mum has started telling me in our emails.. "Not to fall head over heels for the first American guy i meet".. haha! Doesn't matter cos i think European accents are way hotter!

Ok, so i've been feeling like crap since Tuesday night and i don't know how i caught a cold! So at the moment i'm really hating my nose!!!

Haere mai or Welcome!

Kia Ora! That's Maori for hello.
Okay so anyway welcome to my blog if you are reading this!
I decided to enter the world of blogging because it looks like a great way to get all my different emotions off my chest, cos sometimes i find it hard to breathe.
Alrighty, so the basics are
  • My names Samantha
  • I'm 18
  • I recently moved to the States from New Zealand but i am a US citizen
  • I love New Zealand a lot, she's my home country
  • I'm shy but friendly and outgoing, I self doubt a lot, I have tonnes of insecurities
I'm not expecting anyone to read or follow my ravings and to really care what i have to say, no-one i know will read this so I'm safe in the knowledge i can carry on wearing a mask
well this is all i feel like writing at the moment..
I might post later tonight about my day
E nonu ra, Au revoir and Goodbye
Much Aroha (love)
