Western Themed Bar's and DUI's

Happy Thursday (or if your in NZ then happy Friday) =) When i normally write my blog on Thursdays its always 1am! But not tonight, tonight its not even 8pm =)

Well last Thursday was the night that i went out with dad, Phyllis, and Mike (dad and phyl's best friend) for dinner and drinks. Grandma babysat the boys which was YAY haha.

We left home around 6ish for dinner at a Mexican restaurant - which i cannot remember the name for! - i got this grilled BBQ chicken pasta dish with a whole sh*t load of spices in it! Phyllis and i got the same dish so i knew it wasn't just me! But other than that the food was alright. But before we ordered the food we had to order drinks (of course) i asked for a frozen strawberry margarita which is what Phyllis got as well, well anyway he asked to see my ID! I mean we all know im not 21 but as i was with my dad and 2 other adults and it was for dinner, he still wouldn't serve it to me!! I had to order a virgin frozen strawberry margarita *pfft* but Phyl and I switched! I ended up drinking 2 of those during dinner and boy they were strong!

We finished dinner around 7:30 so it was still too early to go home so we headed off to a bar called "the Whiskey River" and when we walked in (no one was at the door to card me) everyone was on the dance floor learning how to dance country! So cool. Had 3-4 beers while there and got dragged out onto the dance floor by Phyllis before heading home around 11ish. After we got back home we all headed outside put on some music and continued drinking.
All in all it was a really fun night!

AND i wasn't hungover on Friday but just very tired!
I had been up at 6am preparing for my Philosophy final.
Which im proud to say i got a B as my overall final grade!

Like Friday i had a lazy weekend. Phyllis rented New In Town with Renee Zellweger friday night. Saturday she went out with some girlfriends so she rented a movie for Nick to watch, Race to Witch Mountain, i enjoyed it too. After the boys went to bed i watched the movie she rented for me which was Last Chance Harvey with Dustin Hoffman - i have to say i really enjoyed that.

Now Monday, jury duty day =/ haha... Nahh it was actually kinda interesting!

Phyllis dropped me off at the courthouse at 8am, on the way we saw a car accident - turned out to have been fatal for the driver - i had to go through metal detectors then i headed to the Jury assembly room where we had orientation at 8:30.

It was a pretty nice room too. They played 4 movies throughout the day and i caught only 1 whole movie! They started off with Knowing with Nick Cage, about 40 minutes to the end i was called along with 23 other people for Panel #3 to go through the process of jury selection.

**Just to state the obvious 2 other Panels had already been called for court cases.**

This was around 10:30 i guess, so we headed up to courtroom 605 on the 6th floor and meet the Judge, defendant, his attorney and the state attorney. Now the defendant was pleading not guilty to 2 DUI's. And OMG he was colourful in his wardrobe choice!! Black suit which was fine but he had paired it with a green shirt and satin lime green tie with hot pink socks!! He soo must have been gay - he was gorgeous too.
Nice view right?

Anyway back to the case, we were asked group questions by the judge -which i can't remember- then after 45min we were asked to leave and wait outside were they asked for certain individuals to come back in. I wasn't one of them. We got to leave at 12 for lunch which was hour and a half long. I tagged along with John and Julie, who were also part of panel #3, to the Thai Elephant. So yummy =) We got back early and went back to the assembly room and i found out that they were playing Indy Jones 4!! Which i have'nt seen!! I was really annoyed by that!

Got back to the courtroom at 1:30 and we were all called back in because they had made there selection. I wasn't one of the 7 picked - neither was John and Julie, we were sent back downstairs to the assembly room and i caught the final 10min of Indy 4 before Iron Man started (that's the movie i watched all the way through). I wasn't called again when they picked Panel #4 which was lucky for me but Julie was called again. I played Sudoku for awhile before i went into the lounge to eat some of the doughnuts they had on offer and to get a coffee from the free machine, i first had a French Caramel cappuccino then i tried the English Toffee coffee, both were yummy.
Were we let out about 10min into National Treasure 2 which sucked but we were let out 45min before 5!
Out of the 10 scheduled court cases only 4 called for Jury's so the other 6 would have either been postponed, settled, or maybe even thrown out of court.

So there you go! The 2 big days i had have now been immortalized on my blog =)

In other news i have made my appointment for my first driving lesson! It'll be next Wednesday at 1:30. Dad says he'll take me out this weekend which will be good.

  1. Sounds like a great two days! Congrats on your philosophy mark ^^ I think my friend was in that Renee Zellweger movie XD (It was filmed where I live!) As like a background person at a fair or carnival or something? And another friend's little brother had one line or something :P That was a long time ago when they were filming, not sure if they actually show up in the movie at all :P
